Just the videos for youtube partners, that's how they earn revenue off the videos. |

Sure as hell seems like a lot more than that. Unless roughly every other user is a partner now... |

If youtube sees a video get rather popular rather quickly they'll usually email the uploader and offer to monetize that one video. So if you just watch a lot of really popular videos, then chances are most of them will have ads. They offered me that with my 4th of July video and my video of me trying to wake up my sister, but they said both of those videos were unsuitable for a family audience.... so they disabled revenue sharing on those videos permanently. |

So to clarify on "popularity"...is it determined solely by amount of views a video receives? Or are there other prerequisites (ex. need to be a partner, need other videos suitable to be monetized, etc.)? |

Views/comments/likes/favorites all dictate how popular a video is. I don't think partnership matters at all for that formula. |

Ah. So popularity really is just that. Makes sense, then, that more and more vids are becoming infected by ads. And the best channels are sxephil, timmyturnersdad, and of course Llama Juice. *plug* |
