then started a new file and beat that in 3 days. Anyone who says OoT is better is either high or has never played this game. |
| DSFAN121 Aug 20 2011, 05:20 PM |
Well Troy, I forgot about our conversation, but the reason I've been gone is because I bought Wind Waker and played through it again. DEFINITELY better than TP (though TP is by no means bad). I also picked up ALTTP and finally beat it after 6 years, |

Huh, that's kinda strange. |
| Troy Aug 17 2011, 09:19 PM |
just checked bulbapedia because you made me curious. in g/s his pokemon were between 73-81; in HG/SS they're between 80-88. pretty large difference. and they say games are getting easier... |
| Troy Aug 17 2011, 09:16 PM |
the lack of probable psychic spamming surely made a difference... |
| Troy Aug 17 2011, 09:15 PM |
actually, off memory, I think they made him stronger. pretty sure pikachu was a good six or seven levels higher in HG, but that's kinda irrelevant since uneveolved pokemon are generally weaker anyway. they also switched his espeon for lapras; |
| Lavos Aug 17 2011, 07:51 PM |
When I first beat Silver, I fought every battle using only my starter Pokemon. Couldn't bead Red using that strategy though. Did they make him easier for the remakes or something? |
| Troy Aug 17 2011, 09:51 AM |
beat heartgold last night. had a surprisingly easier time with red as opposed to lance, even though my team was a good 20 levels below the former...I blame dragonite. |

I doubt it's all the same guy. I mean, just coding the crazy camerawork whenever you walk across a bridge would take three people alone. |

I wonder if it's all the same guy, or if there's just a never ending chain of brilliant people |
| Lavos Aug 13 2011, 03:02 PM |
Maybe the same person who decided that people wouldn't notice that they move your Pokemon offscreen to hide the fact that they were too lazy to make forward-facing attack animations. =P |

I'm curious which brilliant person over at game freak was responsible for ensuring that roar was part of the legendary dogs' movesets... |

links on a train was indeed a decent game. just not quite up to par with most of the rest of them. it was more fleshed out than PH though, and that's a plus. |

aside from that, it pretty much took OoT and bettered it. again, greatly underrated. and I fail to see how the DS titles were at all innovative. they were still great games in their own regard, but they were certainly not innovative; hell, even |
| Troy Jul 16 2011, 07:39 AM |
TP). TP's severely underrated; it plays great, and its only real shortcomings were not going all the way with its innovations (like the infrequent usage of the more odd weapons, or not playing up the light/dark dichotomy beyond the third dungeon). |
| Troy Jul 16 2011, 07:37 AM |
yerp. the hand thing really shouldn't be that much of an issue, especially considering motion-controlled Zelda really couldn't be done any other way (though that doesn't justify their half-assed "mirror the world!" solution for T |
| Kcedwards Jul 16 2011, 05:21 AM |
That might be the worst excuse to not play a game that I've ever seen... |
| DSFAN121 Jul 16 2011, 12:03 AM |
OoT/MM is kinda pushing it IMO. And yeah, I'd rather have the GC version simply because it bugs me how Link is right-handed now. I'm considering not even getting Skyward Sword because of it (and the gimmicks too). |
| DSFAN121 Jul 16 2011, 12:01 AM |
innovative things, but so did OoT, so did MM, so did TP, so did WW, so did even the DS ones. And your list is basically the same as mine except you put TP up MUCH higher than it should be. I can understand putting it above WW, but putting it above |
| DSFAN121 Jul 16 2011, 12:00 AM |
Idk, it's just every seems to put Alttp and OoT (especially the latter) in a God-like position above all other things. There's no questioning Alttp was better, but that doesn't mean they're not comparable. Yes, Alttp did a lot of innovativ |
| Troy Jul 15 2011, 07:07 PM |
and ALttP did a lot of innovative stuff with its dungeons, too, like the dark world forest thing. my list would probably be ALttP > TP > OoT > MM > WW > ST > PH. and in retrospect, I'd rather have the GC TP as well, but whatevs. |
| Troy Jul 15 2011, 07:05 PM |
I don't mean to claim that ALttp is godly--it's certainly not perfect--but all the same, it's certainly better than PH, ST, and probably most 3D ones too. just the way it goes. the red/blue block puzzles were not even as they were in ALttP. an |
| DSFAN121 Jul 15 2011, 01:46 PM |
One more thing I wanna add: I just bought WW again (my old disc broke), and I'm gonna play through it. Then I'll probably get the GameCube TP as well (fuck the Wii). |
| DSFAN121 Jul 15 2011, 01:41 PM |
I'm predicting that Skyward Sword will either be between MM/WW or WW/TP. As for the others, I haven't completed them yet, and therefore don't feel I should pass a judgement. |
| DSFAN121 Jul 15 2011, 01:39 PM |
more challenging and mindfuck-ing than any other Zelda game (unless you count OoT Master Quest). But overall, here's my tier of the games we've discussed: Alttp > OoT > MM > WW > TP > PH > ST |
| DSFAN121 Jul 15 2011, 01:37 PM |
and MM being better. Especially MM, I mean, not only did you have Epona, but you could use the bunny hood, Goron roll, etc. I've done more pointless exploration in MM than I have in all the other Zeldas combined. You GOTTA give MM a chance, it's |
| DSFAN121 Jul 15 2011, 01:34 PM |
I said the puzzles and such were similar. Like when was the last time we saw the red/blue alternating blocks? I think you're putting Alttp in a little too "godly" of a position though. And I agree with overland exploration of OoT, TP, Alttp |
| Troy Jul 15 2011, 01:04 PM |
...from all this, I've realized I really need to give MM a fair chance, I've always kinda liked it but just never been motivated enough to finish. but I still feel that OoT, Tp, and ALttP would be at the top. |
